So? Nothing that we didn't see in beta2? Where's the Picasa integration?

The Lens Correction feature is entirely new--and a huge step. I'll have a whole post about it soon. The number of "automatic" lens profiles is still relatively small but it'll grow in the coming months. And it includes a "manual" profile feature that will let you create a lens correction profile for any lens you own.
Profiles, huh? It's way more than photo-tech babble.
Here's the gist: This enables Lightroom 3 to automatically correct the distortion and color shifts of your lenses--all of them. In effect, it will automate what, until now, has been a lot of time in the Develop module.
But, like I say, more later.

Maybe the most important difference is that Lightroom 3 is no longer beta. It's out and it works. Both betas--being betas--had lots of bugs.
I think the better measure of Lightroom 3's significance is to compare it to Lightroom _2_. Anyone want to go back to LR2? Me neither.

Flap,

Lightroom Plug-in genius Jeffrey Friedl has released his PicasaWeb plug-in for Lightroom 3: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/picasaweb

If you're not familiar with his stuff, Jeffrey has a slew of useful import/export plug-ins.

Having issues with soundtracks skipping and clicking in slideshows on Lightroom 3. Using Windows Vista..is that the problem. Tracks play fine in itunes of media player. Please advise.

waywest

Richard,

Not sure what's causing the skips and clicks, especially given that it plays OK in iTunes. Try the usual troubleshooting methods to isolate possible problems:
* make a dupe of track, then convert to mp3 if haven't already done so
* reimport into Lightroom slideshow and see if problem still there
Beyond that, if you have a friend with Lightroom, you could send it to them and see if same problem occurs on their machine.

Not much I know, but hope that helps.

What is the method for changing the order of pictures in Lightroom so that my slideshow can have a sequence different from the way the pictures were originally imported?

waywest

Richard,

Steps for changing the slide order are on page 198 of the book.
